SMI Radio Ep. 50 On Demand: Roger Fisher / Jeremy Westfall (Northwest LoveFest)

We are into the second week in February and love is in the air. If there is a central theme for this week’s show, I guess love would be it.

In the first half of this week’s episode of SMI Radio I have a great conversation with founding Heart member and 2012 Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame nominee, Roger Fisher.  Recently, Roger has put together a wonderful video  and spiritually  moving arrangement of a number that he, Ann and Nancy Wilson penned in 1975, “Love Alive” (See Below Video)

Several local music and visual artists take part in the project including the amazing and ethereal vocalist Beth Quist, along with the soulful and incomparable Bernadette Bascom.  We talk about the re-working of that Heart classic as well as a new single that he recently released on iTunes titled “Dear Friend” which we will feature at the end of the show.

In addition, we also talk about Roger’s approach to life and his eternal youthful outlook on life and his creativity several decades after his contribution and performances with one of Seattle’s greatest exports.

Also we talk about the special birthday and Valentine’s Day show Roger has coming up this Saturday night at Monroe Steaks and Spirits.

In the second half of the show I interview Jeremy Westfall. Jeremy is the driving force behind Northest LoveFest 2012. The music festival which was established in 2010. The Festival took place in Fremont that year and last year. The festival was so well received that that it is being moved to a larger venue this year.

The festival has featured some of the best Northwest talent around. This years festival promises to be even more ambitious. This Friday night at Nectar Lounge will be the official kick off event for the festival.

The show will feature two stellar bands and SMI Radio guests, Perry Acker,  Cody Beebe and The Crooks and Portland based, Redwood Son.  I will feature selections from these artists this week as well.

Northwest LoveFest was born from the belief that music festivals should have a positive effect on humanity and the environment we all share.

It is our aspiration to establish an event that encourages everyone to exercise their creativity and progress towards a healthier state of living. Through interactive art, performances and workshops, we will generate and reinforce ideas that are geared towards a unified existence.

Not only will we demonstrate the power of music and art, created with positive intentions, we will feature the various means in which alternative energy can power the performances. We will also be carbon neutral and mindful of our waste.

Each year, the festival will also recognize individuals and/or organizations that provide outstanding service within the Pacific Northwest community.
