About SMI (Seattle Music Insider)
Seattle Music Insider was founded in 2009 by chief contributor, Greg Roth. SMI is an online magazine featuring news and information focusing on established and emerging artists who represent a variety of genres of music.
SMI has several contributors with various journalism and music backgrounds who cover artists appearing at various venues around the Northwest.
SMI’s content includes live reviews, record reviews, artist previews, artist and venue features, new music previews and live previews, as well as exclusive artist interviews. In addition, several photographers provide content for rich photo slideshows that accompany a majority of our live reviews. Besides covering shows around the region, they have covered major Northwest festivals such as Bumbershoot, Sasquatch, Capitol Hill Block Party, Summer Metldown, Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and City Arts Fest.
Founder Greg Roth hosts a weekly internet radio magazine show called SMI Radio. It features in-depth interviews and music from a variety of artists. SMI Radio streams on several internet radio stations and can be heard on multiple platforms, such as iTunes, SoundCloud, TuneIn Radio, Stitcher Radio, and Podcast Machine.
Jennifer Austin brings her considerable talent and years of broadcast experience to bear as the site’s managing editor.
SMI’s philosophy is that music builds community, and that music is the universal language. We believe it has the power to unite people of ever race, religion, gender, and persuasion.
It is our desire to provide rich digital content using a variety of mediums, and to be a valued resource to music lovers – not only in the Northwest – but around the world.
