Henry Jake
Henry Jake’s interest in music criticism sprouted from his academic thesis “Fragments of Revolt: Populist and Radicalism and Vanguard Modernism in the Music of Elvis and Dylan.”
From there, he went on to cover artists such as The Decembrists, AC Newman, and The Apples in Stereo for The Cornell Daily Sun. While attending grad school at Berkeley, Henry wrote for blogs Grateful Web and Beats Per Minute where he interviewed Vetiver, Fruit Bats, and Delta Spirit. Henry has reported from festivals on both coasts, including the Newport Folk Festival, SF Outside Lands, and Seattle’s own Bumbershoot.
His writing influences include Lester Bangs, Greil Marcus, and Jefferson Cowie. Henry is now based in the Mission district of San Francisco, and travels to Seattle most weekends.
