Capitol Hill Block Party Day 1 Recap

Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party is an urban music festival in the heart of one of the city’s most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods. The Block Party takes over the streets for one weekend each July, inviting the businesses and residents inside the gates to join the party; along with the rest of the inebriated, sunburned throngs for three days of music and partying. The festival’s size and location result in a nice range of programming that includes some big names, as well as less well-known regional acts. Seattle Music Insider was on hand all weekend at Capitol Hill Block Party and on Friday, our own Alex Crick and Christine Mitchell bounced around from venue to venue to capture the performances.

Alex Crick is a Seattle based freelance photographer specializing in music photography. His interest in photography began as a school project in the early-90′s, when he also attended many live music shows. Eventually, he combined these two interests by conveying the power and excitement of live music through the eye of the camera. Over the years, he’s traveled all over the country photographing live musical acts. You can find samples of his work in SPIN, Billboard, Esquire. View his work here
