Tuesday night, Jason Mraz wooed the crowd at the sold out Benaroya Hall in Seattle, bringing fans to their feet even before the show began. Mraz stepped on to the stage to thank everyone for coming and to introduce his opening band, Raining Jane. Not only would they perform songs alone on stage, but they were joined by Mraz for the rest of the evening and played as his backing band. This tour was simply called “The Yes! Tour,” (aptly named for Mraz’s latest album release, Yes! ). This marked Mraz’s fifth studio release since 2002 and is a joint collaboration with Raining Jane.
The event was also billed as “An Acoustic Evening,” but it was full of lights, stage smoke, and melodies that were far from “acoustic” performances. The evening was filled with song, laughter, audience participation, and awe. If you’ve ever seen Mraz live, you know what that means. His vocals are near perfection, and he exudes a joyful attitude on stage as he plays, creating a sea of smiles within the venue that lasted throughout the evening.
