SMI Radio Ep.46 On Demand: Global Heat / Bob Tomberg (MANW) and Jessica Latshaw

On the latest episode of SMI Radio, I feature three wonderful guests doing great things with music as their vehicle…

Last December, My Seattle Night Out  held the Jammin’ Challenge at Seattle’s Hard Rock Cafe. Eight bands were chosen by fans to compete in two semi final rounds. After an amazon evening of entertaining and eclectic music, Northwest Hip Hop, R&B and Soul outfit, Global Heat was chosen the winner.  As a result, the band will be perform this Saturday night, January 14th at Big Daddy’s in Woodinville as part of the lineup for Play It Forward II.

Proceeds from the event and online donations will go to benefit Music Aid Northwest and Music Matters.  

I caught up with members, Rob, Lateef and Marvin to talk about the band’s origins and sound as well as the gig this weekend.

In the second half of the show, I speak with Music Aid Northwest President, Bob Tomberg,  Bob talks about Play it Forward II and the Washington House Bill 1329  that raises funds for special license plates benefiting music education and Music Matters. In the third segment, I speak to Jessica Latshaw, a wonderfully talented singer / songwriter out of New York City. Her uplifting viral music video with over 900,000 views has captured the hearts of over 900 should across the globe.  We talk about how the video has impacted her and the positive impact that the video has had on others and why.

We were honored and proud to debut the studio recording of the number performed in the video titled, “Ain’t My Friend” The song will be available later this week on iTunes.  and

    I loved your interview of Jess Latshaw! I know her from her home in PA and loved seeing the video, reading your post, listening etc. My favorite part of the video is the White Sox guy! The music wrought a transformation that was visible especially through our glimpse of him. She writes very innovative, real, and enjoyable music.
