Local rockers Lust Punch celebrated their CD Release Party for Eating for Two at the South Sound’s premiere spot for local bands, Louie G’s Pizza. It was a sellout crowd, and the place was packed from beginning to end, with everyone in attendance looking forward to an awesome evening of great music.

Getting the evening started were local teen three piece rock band, Locomotive. The band is made up of Bella Mariani (bass / vocals), Ryan Horn (guitar) and Ethan Horn (drums). These kids are a ball of energy and if you’ve ever witnessed one of their performances, this comes as no surprise. As musicians, they can play, at times you forget that the oldest in the band is only sixteen.  With killer songs such as “Take Your Steps,” “Lose It,” “Out for the Gold,” and “Muscle Memory,” they proved to be a solid opener and even harder act to follow.

Next up were Van Eps, a great alternative rock band with a touch of classic and blues rock influence. The band consists of Matt Strutynski (guitar / vocals), Jake Javonovich (drums), Bobby Streenrod (bass), and Brad Streenrod (lead guitar). The band played a solid array of originals that are on their self-titled album, which you can listen to on their Bandcamp page. A large number of people packed the front of the stage and rocked away as the band played some awesome music. “Keep on Breathing,” “Catch My Vibe,” “Vegas Rain,” and “Dirty South” definitely kept the crowd moving and grooving. If you haven’t had the chance to check out Van Eps, you must do so.

Next up were Tacoma based Dedset, which is made up of Jeff Burch (vocals), Jason McClellan (guitar), Patrick Brockwell (drums), Jeff Suchland (bass), and Jerry Burch (guitar). They describe themselves as a rock outfit that combines lush acoustic textures with gritty PNW rock and roll. The band put on an excellent performance. The band entertained the crowd with their melodic rock that sounded very reminiscent of the band Live. The band played an hour long set consisting of original material. “Stone Spirit,” “Cold Seasons,” and “More than Everything” were definite crowd pleasers. You can check out the band’s catchy brand of rock on their Soundcloud page.

Finally, the moment came that everyone had been waiting for. Lust Punch were pumped and came out swinging. The solid, hard-rocking band, who are hell bent of bringing rock and roll back to the Grunge Capital, had everyone in the house on their feet. Many were up front, waving their arms, fist pumping, head banging, and even moshing as the band who is made up of Nick Knight (guitar / vocals), Michael Bell (bass / backing vocals), and Taylor Lee Lutzenhiser (drums) proceeded to kick everyone in the pants. With awesome songs with catchy sing along choruses, Lust Punch put on a solid and very entertaining hour long set. Songs such as “Dead Fish,” “27 Roses,” “Bang Bang,” “Cut My Hair,” and “Queen of Silence” sounded awesome live. Not only are the boys in the band awesome musicians, they do an awesome job interacting and entertaining the crowd. Get in touch with the band through their Facebook page to find out how you can get a copy of Eating For Two. You will NOT be disappointed.

Again, a solid night of great music performed by great local talent. Many thanks to Louie G’s Pizza for continuously giving local bands a place to play.
