After up and coming band Nightmare Air, warmed up the crowds, The Airborne Toxic Event took over Showbox at the Market.  It didn’t matter if you were front and center, the middle of the crowd, or sitting in the back bar, you still felt like you were in the center of the action.Lead singer, Mikel Jollett, crowd surfed and even sang from the very back of the room while standing on the ledge!

The event wouldn’t be complete without the musical and visual contributions from the rest of the band.

Anna Bullbrock played her tambourine while sitting on Noah Harmon’s shoulders.  Steven Chen added his voice with his guitar, and keyboardist and drummer, Daren Taylor, kept them all in time.

Dubbed an “American Indie Rock Band,” The Airborne Toxic Event was enjoyed by young and old alike.  As young as 5 and as old as “old enough to be my grandpa” danced, sang, and were thoroughly entertained.

The band recently played Vancouver and will be heading back to their home to California before embarking on a U.S. Tour

Arlene Brown is both a writer and photographer for SMI. She likes to take things one picture at a time. Covering and reviewing shows from Soundgarden, The Proclaimers, Lorde, The Head & The Heart, to Hank3, Bob Log III, New Politics, Black Joe Lewis, Grouplove, including local and national rising bands and more, she truly loves to try to get that perfect shot. Looking for that raw emotion, energy, power that only live music can deliver, she captures the essence of a show in her own unique style.
