This week, I’m changing the SMI Radio format up a bit. SMI contributor and Tyrannosaurus grace frontman Timmy Held joins me in studio. Not only is Timmy a talented artist and songwriter, he and his partner and SMI contributor, Justin Foss, head up Fake Label Records.
FLR is getting ready to drop the brand new compilation disc featuring independent Northwest artists, with tracks from Smoosh, Shaprece, Mnemonic Sounds, Afraid of Figs, Little Beruit, and more.
The free album, called “Fake It or Leave It,” will promote some of the most unique and talented indie acts. On this week’s episode, we’ll spin tracks from FLR artists and discuss them, their songs, and the CD, which is due out in April.
In the second half of the show, we showcase a brand-new, exclusive track from the forthcoming Afraid of Figs record, as well as a special surprise guest.
About Fake Label Records
Fake Label Records (FLR) was co-founded in 2010 by the creators of Ellensburg, WA-based band, Tyrannosaurus grace, Timmy Held and Justin Foss. It’s a small label with a shoestring budget, using all of it’s available resources, plus a DIY approach, to boost the profiles of independent acts from the Pacific Northwest.
The idea is to get great bands with devout followings, and find a way for those followers to become a collective mass of show-goers and local band supporters. They do this by giving away FREE compilation CDs at the shows of each band on the roster.
SMI Radio can be heard each week…
